Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions:

While a portion of this is related directly to Motorcycle Tours, all tours that involve extreme activities such as Rock Climbing, Motorcycling, Remote Area Treks, White Water Rafting, Kayaking and Scuba Diving are treated as Adventure/Extreme Activities not only by Remote Asia but also your insurance company.

1. Booking and payment

Quotations accepted by clients are subject to deposits.  Remote Asia prefers Paypal deposits and also bank transfers and all additional charges related are the responsibility of the client.  Reservations are only confirmed after the deposit has cleared our account in Paypal or Bank transfer.

Deposits and final balances are described in each quotation and the client agrees to the terms of payment when the initial balance is paid.

2. Hazards, responsibilities and insurance coverage

Off-road motorcycling can be dangerous and falls into the category "extreme sports".

During any tour conducted by Remote Asia, participants will ride on unpaved road and forest/jungle track that are not maintained well.  Incidents such as running across large holes in the path/road/track, landslides, uneven surfaces, farm and wild animals, poor traffic regulations adherence and UXO in some areas are to be expected.  Established driving rules and signs are not to be expected by riders as they are often times ignored by other drivers.

Our guides are very experienced in dealing with western clients and navigation on remote tracks. We do not use GPS and in some instances, we may make errors in navigation that will not be large enough to affect the tour.  Changes in the roads/paths in remote areas change from year to year due to logging and construction.

While we try to maintain a high level of maintenance on our equipment, bikes, riding gear and equipment may be a different standard than found in the west.  We make every effort to insure the quality of the product offered but unforeseen complications do occur.

In cases of rider fault, items are to be the responsibility of the renter.  This extends to rider using the motorcycle/car in difficult terrain.  Instances such as excessive brake wear occur on off paved surfaces.

All repairs to the motorcycle/car must be related to Remote Asia before any work is done to the vehicle.  Section 3 states this as well.

With the participation to a “Remote Asia” tour all participants explicitly agree to the following:

  • Participants are aware that they are engaging in a hazardous activity, not only to bodily injury but to property and must be responsible for all actions.
  • The participants assume full responsibility for any injuries, health hazards or damages occurring during the tour to them or to third parties.
  • Remote Asia and all of the staff are to be held harmless for any and all injuries sustained by participants or third parties while on tour.  Participants can not hold liable any member of Remote Asia for damages occurring during a tour.
  • Participants have to provide insurance that meets what most insurance companies deem “Extreme Sports” activities.  This must include a waiver for the above mentioned hazards and third parties.  It is the responsibility of the participant to inform and notify their insurance company of the activity they are participating in.
  • Participants are hereby informed that all staff for Remote Asia is acting as the sole agent of services rendered including but not limited to guides, motorcycle rental companies, accommodation providers and restaurants.
  • Remote Asia and all persons involved in the organization, execution, financing or marketing of the tour can not be held responsible for damages or losses (including loss of business opportunities, damages to the participant’s family, associates or legal heirs) occurring as a consequence of delays or lack of communication infrastructure.

3. Care of Motorcycles and Equipment

A full list of replacement costs will be provided upon rental of a motorcycle.  The participants are expected to use the motorcycles and equipment provided in a responsible and "normal" manner. The participants will be made liable for damages occurring to motorcycle or equipment due to an irresponsible riding behavior or disrespect of guide’s instructions, off road riding and should pay the cost of repair or replacement.

4. Services

Remote Asia offers a full range of services found online at http://www.remoteasia.com/Services.html.  When tours and services are quoted, the quotation will list services included and excluded.

Tours may be changed at any point to insure client safety or availability.

In cases of rental of self driven motorcycles or self drive vehicles, all clients must deposit a valid passport and agree to the rental contract upon pick up of the vehicle.  As stated above, damages are the responsibility of the participant or renter.
