News on us!

Quynh
Managing Director

I was born in Hanoi and graduated from the National University with a degree in Languages.  I started as a tour guide and moved into the role of Office Manager for a Danish adventure travel company working in Vietnam. I then was a remote field manager a mining company and moved onto work with MAG, Mine Action Group in Vietnam.  I moved to Laos with Jim and was the Managing Director for the largest adventure travel company here but was fortunate enough to start Remote Asia and use my years of experience to bring different tours to clients.  I love to cook, travel, read and take care of my cat. Mostly I enjoy designing custom tours of Southeast Asia.  I've traveled extensively with Jim and on trips of my own in Vietnam and Laos and really enjoy making trips for people, I see the places they are going in my memories and know that we are building lifetime memories for our clients.

Jim (jimoi)
Consultant, Research, Trip Adviser

I’m American by nationality but not mentality and have chosen to live here in Asia like many other expats.  I truly love living here and especially riding on and off road to get deeper into the areas that few tourists get to.  I've been to about 75 countries around the world and am pretty amazed by Southeast Asia.  I'd say I'm pretty lucky, Quynh tells me to go riding and occasionally we have clients that pay me for what I love to do, sweet indeed.

When I was back in the States, I was fortunate to work with Green Tortoise Adventure Travel and have brought a little of that spirit here with me to Remote Asia Travel.
I am fortunate to have fallen in Love with Quynh and we’re happy in Vientiane.  I’ve spent over three years riding motorcycle around Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam to find locations that are remote and pure.  I’ll share most of them with Remote Asia Travel but keep a few to myself.  In the photo to the right, I’m out in northern Thailand along the Lao border, a great ride with Quynh and we've many more to do.

Why do we do it?

Well it’s pretty simple. We know this corner of the planet really well and with the amount of travel we’ve done here, it just made sense to start to direct those that wish to discover what’s here.  Our agency office is also our home and we are located on the MekongRiver a few kilometers outside of Vientiane.  We also want you to enjoy traveling here as much as we do.  Our service is to make your time in the region as smooth as possible so you can enjoy what we love about the little piece of land known as South East Asia.

Thanks, Cam on, Khop Chai Deu, Cheers!
